You know how driving in the early morning traffic jam can be so annoying??... Well a few days ago i actually had a real great drive.. u know why?? I was really entertained with a discussion being held over a local radio station... The topic was "Do you think it is important to be liked by your in-laws"...
To be frank i had never REALLY thought of that actually..... i always thought like... "Duh... wouldn't everyone want to be liked??" Right??..
Anyway, as i was hearing, there seemed to be so many of them out there who actually have lots of problems with their in-laws... and as it went on i realized that about a good 95% of the problems were mother-daughter in law issues... I asked my self WHY??
It was like almost every caller were bringing up the same issues... you know it was either a guy complaining his wife and mom cant get along..... or a girl complaining she can't get along with her mother in-law... I was like "Wow... is there something wrong with us??.. Why only we have all these problems??... Are all the men in excellent terms with their in-laws??"
On a more personal note, in my family i think i have great in-laws... but no one's perfect... issues do crop up from time to time but it is resolved... I feel there are many ways we can overcome problems with them... For one thing is settle even the smallest issue that crops up immediately!!! This I find very effective... You know why??... These small issues kept at heart will accumulate and one day explode.. and when it does... it can be very very ugly..
Next.. be frank to each other. If you don't like something, be open about it.. but do it in a nice manner. This way they would understand what you like and what you don't..
Most importantly.. both parties have to learn to understand each other.. I always believe in this "We say that 2 people get along well only if they can get along with each others weakness... NOT strength.. "
Well kind of deviated a bit.. haha.. back to why common in-law problems are often among the ladies of the house??... Is it because we are too sensitive as opposed to men (Men mostly have the don't care attitude..hahah)? Are we bad at handling relationships with in-laws? Are we over possessive? Or are the men not doing enough to create a balance in the family?
I do not have a clear answer as of yet.. It feels like all the options are applicable depending on the family situation... Well what do you think girls??
